Our Final Day in France
We are really glad that we added the three additional nights in Nice, it allowed us to experience yet another side of France. Friday morning we were on the bus at 9 to travel west along the Mediterranean. Our first stop was Antibes. There are these statues all over of horses in front of many huge yachts that are moored here.
The author du jour was Picaso. Here is the Picaso museum.
We spent time in the market which has a more permanent feel to it than all the other markets we visited.
The starter was a traditional salad with prosciutto ham, vegetables,, and greens.
One of Antibes claims to fame is that it is the breaking point between the rock (they say pebble) beaches to the east and the sand beaches to the west.

Besides horse statues they also had a heard of buffalo. Alice stopped to get the attention of one of them who took liking to her.
Then we were on our way to Cannes for lunch. We ate at a traditional French restaurant. I just realized I had not taken any pictures of all the food we have been eating so I had this one last chance. We ate at the restaurant Gaston Gastounette which overlooks the water front.
We had our choice of items from a traditional three course meal.
The starter was a traditional salad with prosciutto ham, vegetables,, and greens.
For the main course we had risotto with prawns. It was delicious!
For desert I selected the assorted sorbets with fruit. It was the perfect ending to this meal and also refreshing on a day approaching 100 degrees.
We then went for a walk along the waterfront by the contention center where the film festival is held.
It was then a half hour bus ride back to Nice and are time of touring was over. Our final stop was the American Bar in the marketplace in Nice where the only thing that was American was the menu, the staff and the service were purely French. A great end to a great vacation.
